Joel Young 3rd in National Series & Vic MTBO Champs

Congratulations to Queensland MTB Orienteer Joel Young on his performances in the Victorian long course MTBO Champs which were held over the weekend in Dunolly Forest. Joel came 3rd in the M21 Middle Distance, 3rd in the Long Distance (Ricky Thackray 1h 53, Luke Haines 1hr 57, Joel Young 2hr 01 ) and 6th in the sprint.
Congratulations also to QLDer Kate Riseley who came 3rd in the W21 Middle Distance event.

Somewhat hillier terrain gave riders major route choice decisions on the Natasha Thackray set courses. Carolyn Jackson had a scintillating ride in W21 to have a clear win over Marina Iskhakova on the 30km course, & was faster than the veteran men on that course too. Ricky Thackray was pleased with a near flawless ride to win M21, as was the less experienced Luke Haines who was just a couple of minutes behind (MTBO Aust).
