This will be a Middle Distance event with short, technical legs for those on the Hard courses. The Easy and Very Easy courses will be in the adjoining pine forest so are suitable for beginners and juniors.
A prescribed burn of part of the forest in June has resulted in some areas on the lower slopes being easier to run through although you may get blackened from the burnt vegetation.
This forest is the major habitat for the endangered Boronia granitica - a lovely pink flowering shrub. Try to avoid trampling it wherever possible as you move through the bush.
Forecast for Saturday
Cloudy over the east with morning drizzle, tending to isolated showers and gusty thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers and possible early thunderstorms near the southern border. Moderate to fresh NE to NW winds, shifting gusty NW to SW'ly during the day. Fire Danger: High to Very High.
Be very careful running across the granite slabs if they are wet. Spikes are allowed to be worn.
