Are you interested in Learning to Navigate and Orienteer?
Learn the theory and practice behind map and compass navigation in an Urban and Bush Environment. Ideally we will have 2 Groups - one will start right at the beginning, so 100% suitable for those with no idea but keen to learn. We will also offer a more advanced sessions for those with some experience but keen to hone those skills on the ground.
Come and join Mitch, Russ, Linda and a few special guests and find out the secrets behind not ending up off the map and coming home with boasting rights!
This will be a 4-week course:
* Wed 03 Apr - Jezzine Barracks
* Wed 10 Apr - James Cook Uni
* Wed 17 Apr - James Cook Uni
* Wed 24 Apr - James Cook Uni
Timings
* Weeks 1-3, 5.30-7pm
* Week 4 course start window will be 5.30-7pm
Ideally you will learn the most if you can attend all 4-weeks, as we will be following a program, turn up a week late and you are likely to be left behind with an upside-down map !!
On Sunday the 13 Apr we will open this up to everyone and our course participants will have a chance to show the non-participants just what they missed out on in a fun competitive cross-country event, maybe with a relay thrown in for good fun !!
Bring - strongly suggest a head torch - it will be dark by 7pm, comfy running-walking attire for Jezzine and we will chat about equipment once we hit the bush at JCU !! Also bring a few scribble implements - you will find a pencil, pen and a few highlighters really handy,
TTOC will supply maps, compasses, emergency whistles, first aid kit, fluids, spare writing implements and some fun activities !!!
