Who is this course for?
This course is for all OQ members with an interest in course setting and event organisation in foot orienteering events. It will be particularly relevant for those members expecting to organise/set/control an event in 2023. It will be aimed at a level for newer course setters but will be suitable for those with no experience in course setting/planning and for those with some previous experience.
What accreditation can I receive?
All participants not already accredited will be encouraged to apply for Level 1 Controller status - this course forms part of the requirements for accreditation. Some involvement in course setting and organising will be required to complete the accreditation.
What will the course cover?
The course will cover technical standards for planning orienteering events (as per the Level 1 Controller syllabus):
• Planning Orienteering Courses
• Organising Orienteering Events
• Fairness and Equity in Orienteering
The course will be a mixture of instruction and group discussion - participants will be asked to prepare for the course by completing some (short) reading and evaluating some sample courses.
When and where will the course be held?
The course will be held 10am-3pm on Saturday 11 February at the Kenmore Library (Kenmore Village Shopping Centre, 9 Brookfield Road, Kenmore). The course is free for OQ members and lunch will be provided (and there are plenty of coffee shops in the near vicinity). Then stretch your legs at the Park O in Kenmore (3:30pm).
How do I enrol to attend?
Sign up on Eventor. Relevant preparation material will be made available on the Eventor page before the event.
Who to contact?
The OQ Technical Officer, Tim McIntyre, will be organising the course. Contact him via email at email@example.com.
Events are updated from the Eventor website once every 8 hours.
