Come for a run on our brand new map, 'Jericho', near Crows Nest. Newcomers are always welcome, with courses suitable for all ages and abilities and coaching available on the day. Club Compasses can be borrowed, SI sticks for electronic timing can be hired.
First starts for the public will be from 10.30am, with Junior Camp Champs starting at 10.00am.
'Jericho' is a 1:10000 scale, undulating to steep spur gully map with scattered rock and a complex creek system. Leg covering is recommended due to long grass and seeds, but this should be reduced at this time of year. To minimize the spread of weeds, could you please ensure your shoes and equipment are seed/weed free on arrival, and cleaned again before your next event.
You can go out on your own or in a group. Compasses can be borrowed, and SI sticks for electronic timing can be borrowed.
There are 8 courses on offer to accommodate all navigation and fitness levels:
Kid-O: 1.3km
Very Easy (VE): 1.8km
Easy (E): 1.9km
Moderate 1: 4.2km
Moderate 2: 3.2km
Hard 1: 6.9km
Hard 2: 4.6km
Hard 3: 2.7km
The Hard 1, Hard 2 and Moderate 1 get to visit the cave.
There will also be a Kid-O activity for the Under 10's. Kid-O is a program of games based orienteering activities for younger children. Kid-O sticker charts will be available at registration. Once completed (10 activities and 5 orienteering courses), juniors can claim their prize. All junior members born 2015 or later are eligible to participate. Sticker charts will be issued free of charge.
Please note that registrations close WEDNESDAY at midnight, to allow for map printing. If you miss the cutoff date, please email rroc.oq@gmail.com. You may have to make do with a map from the portable printer.
Location: 'Jericho' is at the end of McLean Rd (turn west off the New England Highway, just north of Pechey, signposted to Goombungee), then take the second left into McLean Rd and follow TO THE END OF THE ROAD. Do not turn off anywhere along McLean Rd. Unfortunately McLean Rd is not a high priority for the council, please take care. Allow 30 mins from Highfields and 15 mins from Crows Nest.

It has been a wet year, the creeks are running. Bring a change of shoes, you will probably get your feet wet.
