TTOC Learn to Orienteer - Navigation Training Series (4-weeks)

Are you interested in Learning or Improving your skills in Navigation and Orienteering?
Here is your chance to learn the theory and practice the skills behind map and compass navigation in an Urban and Bush Environment. We are planning on offering two levels of training; group One will start right at the beginning, so 100% suitable for those with only a small idea but keen to learn. Group Two will take on more advanced skills, suitable for those with some experience, but keen to hone those skills on the ground.
Come and join Mitch, Russ, Linda and a few of our special guests and find out the secrets behind not ending up off the map and coming home with boasting rights!
This will be a 4-week course:
* Wed 03 Apr - Jezzine Barracks
* Wed 10 Apr - James Cook Uni
* Wed 17 Apr - James Cook Uni
* Wed 24 Apr - James Cook Uni
Timings
* Weeks 1-3, 5.30-7pm
* Week 4 course start window will be 5.30-7pm
Ideally you will learn the most if you can attend all 4-weeks, as we will be following a program, turn up a week late and you are likely to be left behind with an upside-down map !!
On Wednesday 24 Apr we will open this up to everyone and our course participants will have a chance to show the non-participants just what they missed out on in a fun competitive cross-country event, maybe with a relay thrown in for good fun !!
Bring - strongly suggest a head torch - it will be dark by 7pm, comfy running-walking attire for Jezzine and we will chat about equipment once we hit the bush at JCU !! Also bring a few scribble implements - you will find a pencil, pen and a few highlighters really handy,
TTOC will supply maps, compasses, emergency whistles, first aid kit, fluids, spare writing implements and some fun activities !!!
