This is the first of 3 races in the Qld Schools Orienteering Championships 2024.
Race 1 is a Hagaby-style race (1-person relay) at Karingal Scout Camp
In a Hagaby, the course is divided into loops. There is a mass start. Each competitor completes all the loops, but not necessarily in the same order.
MASS START AT 10:00AM. Briefing at 9:45am.
$10 Hagaby - Saturday AM
$10 Sprint - Saturday PM
$16 Long distance - Sunday AM.
= $36 Total
SI Air will be used for punching. SI Air sticks will be available for hire ("Add Service") for $10 for the whole weekend. Ordinary SI sticks may also be used, and will be available for loan free of charge.
The Championship races are open to:
- school students selected in a regional team
- individuals up to 19 yrs
Family members may like to join in the Public Races.
The Junior Boys (15U), Junior Girls (15U), Senior Boys (19U) and Senior Girls (19U) Championship classes are also selection races for the Queensland Schools Orienteering Team, which will be announced in the week following the events. The team will compete in the 2024 Australian Schools Orienteering Championships in Armidale in 28 Sep-6 Oct 2024.
