Great Results from Easter 3 Day Carnival in NSW

It was touch and go whether they would make it to one of the biggest carnivals on the Australian orienteering calendar, but with some intense driving, they made it!
The Queensland contingent did us proud at the Australian 3 Day competition in Orange over the Easter long weekend. It was a tough carnival with a Sprint event on the Friday, Middle Distance on Saturday, a long and arduous Long Distance event on Sunday, followed by another Long Distance event to finish the carnival on the Monday.
You can check out each day's results on the OQ Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/OrienteeringQld, plus some action photographs of our QLD representatives.
There were some excellent results over the course of the 3 days of competition, with some particularly pleasing results from our elite orienteers which give an indication of the training that they are putting in behind the scenes.
In the overall competition (totaled over Days 1-3), our M20 Elites performed consistently well on some grueling courses. Grant Reinbott came in 4th, with twin brother Blake in 6th place and Samuel Garbellini in 7th position overall. Congratulations also to the W21 Elites who were always up on the podium. Krystal Neumann placed 3rd overall, followed closely by Anna Sheldon in 4th and Ellie de Jong in 5th position. A mighty effort from these ladies.
Julia Gannon had consistently excellent runs, placing 2nd in W20E while Laura de Jong won the W20A class.
In the other age groups Miles Bryant took out 4th position in M14A and older brother Dylan was 5th in M16A. Not to be outdone, Dad Tony placed 3rd in M35AS and Mum Alison took out 2nd in WOpenB. In another talented family, Elin Schulz was 3rd in W12A while Dad Ben took out 5th in M40A. The W55A ladies of Su Yan Tay and Wendy Read took out 2nd and 4th positions with solid runs in all events. Lynda Rapkins was 2nd in W65A, newcomer Eric Smyth was 3rd in M35A and Lisa de Jong placed 2nd in M/W Easy B.
Congratulations to everyone who competed and took on the complex rocky and hilly terrain.
