2019 OQ President's Award

This years Presidents Award goes to someone who has volunteered his time for nearly 10 years. Some people wonder what is the use of statistics but John Cooper has not only compiled statistics - a requirement for both Orienteering Australia and for our Queensland Government Sports Grants - but he has also developed a user friendly computer program for mid week orienteering. When asked why don't our Maprun results from midweek go on Eventor he liased with Peter Effeney and developed a program so those results now go on Eventor.

John has spent many hours trying to decipher names, age and gender for the statistics. He has not been helped by people using nick names or names being misspelt or just a family name for a group without all the exact number of competitors. Hopefully people will be more careful in the future when putting in information especially so that we can follow up with newcomers.
So for all his time and effort I am happy to award the Presidents Award to John Cooper.
Congratulations John and thank you from everyone from OQ.
Judi Hay President Orienteering Queensland.
