Su Yan Tay (UG) has won bronze in the Long Distance event in the W45 class at the World Masters Orienteering Championships held outside Bad Harzburg in Germany.
After a disappointing DNF in the qualifying race for the Sprint, Su Yan went on to win the B final and then followed this up with a 36th and 22nd placing in the qualifying races for the Long Distance race.
In placing third in the final, Su Yan was only 2:58 mins behind the winner while Wendy Read (UG) came 45th in the same final in a field of 68 runners. Natasha Key from Victoria was the only other Australian to gain a place in the Long Distance races, coming third in her W40 class.
