56 Juniors Compete in OQ Sprint Champs
Some of the Junior Certificate Winners from the OQ Sprint Champs

Well done to the 56 juniors who competed in the Sprint Champs at UQ Gatton last Sunday.
There were some fast times and intense competitions in most age groups.
Some interesting facts from the event

  • Closest fought age group: W45A - Su Yan Tay narrowly beat Wendy Read by a mere 2 seconds, closely followed by Kayleen Morrison
  • Oldest competitors: Just to prove you are never too old for orienteering, there were three competitors in the 75A category - Clive Pope and Chris Spriggs in M75A and Barb Pope in W75A.
  • Battle of the Brothers: In M17-20A the Battle of the Brothers fought between the Gray, Gabellini and Reinbott siblings was taken out by Grant and Blake Reinbott who came in 1st and 3rd respectively.
  • Most competitors in one age group: the future of orienteering looks fine with 10 competitors in the M14A category - taken out by Dylan Bryant from Enoggeroos.
